Week 12 - Hamey Joag

Hamey Joag is a street photographer who focus more on the architectural side of photography. He also took some random things like this old box and broken lamp but it still looks nice even though it was some random things. Also, his pictures have the same vibes like Nguan's. Very pastel and colorful. It's so aesthetically pleasing to the eye. I feel like when he's shooting something, he just shoot randomly and if it looks good to him then it's good. I mean, he doesn't plan on what to shoot. He just shoots what he sees and it's not easy to do that I guess but I'll try to practice even harder to improve my photography skills.

Week 11 - Anna Delany

Anna Delany is a New Zealand born photographer based in New York City. She experiences the world around her through her lens, documenting the subtleties of everyday life. From her pictures, I can see that she is trying to show people about the situations that some people are living in. Every one of her pictures have a story and a meaning behind it which made me feel motivated to be better in photography and to be brave when taking pictures. If she can do it, I can too. There's not a lot of female photographer in street or documentary photography. Maybe there is, I just don't know them yet.

Week 10 - Michael Wolf

Michael Wolf was born in Munich, Germany but lives in Hong Kong. I was in class today and my lecturer showed a couple of photographers and Michael Wolf attracted my attention. My next project is about documentary photography and my concept, I wanted to show how hectic Singaporeans live their lives in this fast-paced country. Instead of being carefree and living their lives to the fullest, they have to study and work hard in order to survive and make a living for themselves. So basically, Michael Wolf's pictures are what I imagined when I want to go and shoot like before they go to work or school and after they end work or school.

Week 9 - Giles Duley

Giles Duley is a British documentary photographer and photojournalist. He is best known for his photography of humanitarian issues and the consequences of conflict. In 2011, he was severely injured after stepping on an IED whilst in Afghanistan and as a result became a triple amputee. I remembered on the first day of lesson for photography class, my lecturer told the class to choose one of the 12 photographers he chose and I chose Giles Duley because his pictures are so powerful. He uses his platform which is photography to create awareness, showing the world that there are people out there suffering. So people like us need to step up and help them. I like how Giles Duley took his pictures. It is so inspiring.

Week 8 - @alfy2trill

Alfy is a creative director and photographer from Los Angeles. I came upon his Instagram account on the explore page and when I want to research more about, I can't seem to find any articles about him but from his Instagram he works for a lot of artists in Hollywood like Big Sean, Kid Cudi and Travis Scott to name a few. Most of his pictures are basically the artists performing and also some random pictures he took but the random pictures are not the boring type. It's more of striking with bright colors and a few elements he used like shapes, lines, shadows and light. He makes random things look good and that is very impressive.

Week 7 - @elie

Elie 'Visionelie' Jonathan is a Canadian photographer. He was born in Congo, spent a few years in Paris as a child before settling in Montreal for much of his early life. He moved to Toronto to learn English. He started photographing architecture around Toronto with a focus symmetry on his iPhone. He also works for The Weeknd, a R&B singer and also Selena Gomez, a pop singer. His pictures, I realized he uses the grainy effect and it looks nice but when I tried to do it, it doesn't even look good. Does editing pictures need to have a lot of practice too? If yes, I guess I need to practice more as what people always say practice makes perfect.

Week 6 - @singaporeson

Edwin Koo also known as @singaporeson on Instagram is a local photographer. His website bio stated that he was an accidental photographer. He was first introduced to photojournalism in university by his mentor. Edwin's pictures have an emotional effect on me. His portfolio are remarkable but I really liked The Mosuos the most as it made me looked back on how the people who worked hard for their families to make ends meet. Pictures like that made people realized to appreciate and treasure the people around them. I didn't expect pictures can also make you feel so emotional. Looking at his pictures, I think I know what to do for my next project and also to improve in my photography skills.
